You will see a lot of references to Linux at our site, as it is the future of PC's (sorry Microsoft!), but we realize that it is not for everyone. All systems are available with MS Windows, or Linux read more here... | |

| 2001-07-31 10:48 | I did not mean that your site lacked things | digital1007 | 1 | | If you took it like that i am sorry, I just was making a suggestion. Your site is great and if you have time i have a forum that you might like. Check out http://yapbb.sourceforge.net/ |
| 2001-07-31 10:15 | UBB's look nice... | admin | 0 | | Those are nice, clean boards. I like the forums over at http://www.thetechzone.com. Moto is the site admin (primary site as well as the forums). But, again, my needs are served well with this setup. Forums, BBS, guestbook, call it what you will, I just want a database driven site that I can admin from anywhere. I am very happy with the look, as well. Did you get my email? (I should check it before I ask, huh?) Thanks for the links! |
| 2001-07-31 10:02 | Hmm... I guess I should rename this 'forum' | admin | 0 | | Now that the setup issues are pretty much ironed out, I need to get a better title to this board... I will add several, actually. Not a priority, just yet. I need to get the content fleshed out first. |
| 2001-07-31 09:53 | Re: A couple UBB sites you can look at | admin | 0 | | Thanks, I'll check em out. The site works pretty well as is (I just got it on-line a few days ago), for my needs, anyway. I'm not going to change it until there is a need, but I am open to ideas. One of the reasons for this LAMP setup was that I don't need to get into any cgi. I don't have enough time as it is! The interactive part of this site is a nice bonus, but it really wasn't what I was looking for, exactly. The php/mysql content admin was the main thing... |
| 2001-07-31 09:43 | A couple UBB sites you can look at | digital1007 | 1 | http://community.infopop.net/2/OpenTopic
http://ubbforums.infopop.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi
these are the manufactures forums, but there are many hacks out there for it, such as an option to view whos online and such. The forums you see are done in UBB. Vbb is uses php also and is harder to work with because it is hard to find hosts for it. But it is almost the same thing. And I think that once you start the other site you should give them a try. What i will do is setup a forum for you to view and play around with. |
| 2001-07-31 09:34 | As far as the members... | admin | 0 | | This site is primarily a place for my customers to reach me 24/7, or for anyone in KC interested in my services, or systems. I plan on setting up a seperate site later as a tech-site, no sales. Just tech articles, issues, and a lot of Linux discussions! |
| 2001-07-31 09:31 | Re: Suggestion | admin | 0 | | Thanks. I am using phpwebthings, mainly as a way to add content from a database driven front-end. I'm simply using the setup as the creator designed it. I don't really care if the forum looks like a guestbook, as long as the posting works. What do you have in mind for the UBB? Is there a site that I can look at? |
| 2001-07-31 09:18 | continue to last post | digital1007 | 0 | | Upon closer inspection it ddoes seem that you are using some form of VBB. I could help you set up UBB if you needed help, it offers more options and easier to manage messages once you have allot of members. |
| 2001-07-31 09:13 | Suggestion | digital1007 | 1 | | This is more of a guestbook, rather than a forum. Can i suggest that maybe UBB or VBB would be a better solution for your forum needs. Well this is a great site with great potential. |
