You will see a lot of references to Linux at our site, as it is the future of PC's (sorry Microsoft!), but we realize that it is not for everyone. All systems are available with MS Windows, or Linux

| Web Services - Websites | | A teaser with an invitation Obviously, you don't want to carry around a stack of catalogs, or pamphlets, to hand out whenever someone casually asks what you do. Nor would you want to keep an easel strapped to your back, and a pointer in your hand, ready to launch into a presentation at the first sign of interest.
Print ads present a similiar dilemna. You want to get a lot of information into a limited amount of space, but ad space is costly, so you compromise, and settle for a (brief) summary, and your contact info. If you choose a large color ad, it gets very expensive, very quickly, and you still haven't covered much ground.
So, you use business cards, and advertising, to tease consumers, and you give them your contact information as an invitation to do business.

* Company Name * Your Name * Street Address * Email Address * Phone # * Fax #
And... | Your Web Address! Yes, now we get to it. A website is what gives you the place to get everything across. It is a presentation, first, and foremost. It can be a catalog; simple, or detailed. You can think of it as an extended business card, as well. The beauty of a web-site is that once it has been created, and published, it is very inexpensive to maintain. A good hosting solution can be found for just $10.00, or $20.00 per month, or more, depending on your needs. Compare this to your typical print ad costs, and you'll begin to see the light!
Yes, some web-hosts offer free hosting, however, these sites typically do not allow commercial sites, or, if they do, there are unacceptable restrictions on advertising (banner ads), and traffic.
These are not recommended! The main problem with a free host is service. Since you are not paying for the hosting, they don't feel obligated to address your problems.
To avoid this situation, choose a good host. I can honestly recommend my host, GoDaddy. Check 'em out at http://www.godaddy.com. You will not be dissapointed with their service. GoDaddy also has very fast, efficient servers. This should be apparent as you browse our site. The speed is not just their servers. This site is using a very fast, efficient, database-driven solution, referred to as LAMP. Linux operating system, Apache web server, MySQL database, and PHP scripting engine. You can read more about LAMP in our Articles section.
Now, the initial creation and publishing of your site will be the bulk of the cost, however, this is pretty much a one-time expense. I say 'pretty much', because there are occasional site upgrades, additions, or enhancements that will require the services of the site creator, or, say, PCstability (hehe...).
Ahem, sorry, but that brings this back to us. We can help you with your site, even if we did not create it. Head on over to our general guideline for pricing. The key words here are 'general', and 'guideline', as websites come in very different forms, from extremely simple, to extremely complex. |
